ZealRN
OFFLINE-FIRST LEARNING WORKSPACE

Learn with your documentation.

ZealRN brings offline docs, page-linked notes, code experiments, and local developer tools into one focused workspace.

0.1.0 downloads coming soon.

THE WORKFLOW

Read. Capture. Practice. Review.

Start with a docset page, keep the important idea beside it, then test what you learned without leaving the app.

01

Read offline

Search downloadable Zeal and Dash docsets locally.

02

Take notes

Keep a scratchpad or a note attached to the current page.

03

Try examples

Use the Web Playground to explore HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

DESKTOP

WEB TRIAL

Try the learning loop in your browser.

ZealRN Web is an installable PWA with starter guides, browser-local notes, and an HTML/CSS/JavaScript playground. It works offline after the first visit.

LOCAL-FIRST

Your study data stays close.

There are no accounts, analytics, or note uploads. Desktop stores notes in SQLite; Web stores them in IndexedDB. Export backups before clearing application or browser data.

Offline by design

Documentation and notes remain useful without a network connection.

Honest boundaries

Web has no terminal access. Windows uses external terminals. Playground isolation is defense-in-depth, not a perfect sandbox.

Open source

ZealRN is independently maintained and based on Zeal under GPL-3.0-or-later.

FAQ

One product, two entry points.

What is the difference between Desktop and Web?

Desktop supports downloadable docsets, native storage, exports, and developer tools. Web is a small, installable browser trial with starter documentation.

Can I use the terminal in the browser?

No. The Developer Terminal is a desktop feature. Linux embeds a normal user shell; Windows opens the user's external terminal tools.

Is ZealRN affiliated with Zeal?

ZealRN is based on Zeal but independently maintained and not officially endorsed by the upstream project.
